The beginning of March we had a road trip to Durban.

We booked a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment overlooking the beach in Umhlanga. My parents as well as Michele, Nigel, Kayla and Jethro drove from East London to join us for a long family weekend away.

On the Friday when we arrived, we visited the Sharks rugby stadium for a stadium tour. My mom was delighted to sit on Patrick Lambie's seat in the change room. We then enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the beach and ended the day off with a nice family braai.

The Saturday we started early with a park run along the Umhlanga beach front while later in the day we took the kids to visit mini town. They loved that. We also attended the super rugby match between the Sharks and Waratahs in the evening. We had front row seats and it was a great experience.

The Sunday morning Claudette treated us to a fancy breakfast at the Oyster Box hotel right opposite the lighthouse. Claudette tried oysters for the first time. Everyone enjoyed it very much. The waves in the sea this day were huge and there was even a mini tsunami where the water came right into the parking lot along the beach front. Unfortunately because of the high seas we weren't able to go onto the beach.

The Monday morning we spent at Ushaka marine world. The kids had fun and enjoyed the seal and dolphin shows very much! Overall we had a great time and it was good quality family time. It is just a pity that it was over too quickly!
