October 2016 saw us take a road trip to Durban for 2 purposes. 1 was to celebrate Claudette's birthday, and 2 was to visit Claudette's gran.

We left at 3am on the Friday and arrived at about 11am. There was a few accidents along the way that halted our progress a bit. First stop was a visit to the Sharks rugby stadium where we were taken on a tour. We got to see the gym facilities, the presidential suite, the media center, the change rooms and of course the field.

We then checked into our accommodation and visited Granny Brocklebank in the afternoon. There was still time for a short swim in the sea. The accommodation was situated in Umhlanga right along the beach. We had amazing views of the sea and it was very relaxing to sit on the balcony and watch the sea.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for the 2 birthday girls (Claudette and her mom). After opening presents, we went for a walk along the beach and a breakfast just down the pathway. Later in the morning we went to the Ushaka aquarium. Connor really enjoyed this, especially the dolphin and seal shows.

In the afternoon we again visited Granny, spent some time on the beach and ended the day off with an enjoyable braai on the balcony. We traveled back on the Sunday which felt like it took forever and Monday was a very long day at work!
