We decided to take a much needed rest over Easter, and planned a road trip along the coast. This was a first road trip for us as a family.
We flew down from Johannesburg to George and then stayed at Pine Lake Marina resort near Sedgefield for 3 nights. While there, we had day trips up into the Outeniqua mountains on the power van, a trip to Mossel Bay, a visit to the elephant sanctuary in Knysna and some magnificent views from the cliffs in Knysna.

We then headed off to Eerste Rivier in Tsitsikamma. On the way there, we stopped off at Plettenberg Bay for a glider flight, but unfortunately the weather didn't allow for us to take off. Eerste Rivier was beautiful. We had a double story beach house to ourselves with a lovely beach right in front of us. We also took a day trip to the Storms River mouth where we hiked to 3 suspension bridges.
After 2 nights at Eerste Rivier, we were on the road again to Port Elizabeth for a further 2 nights. On the way there, we stopped at St Francis Bay and also Jeffreys Bay. Our hotel in Port Elizabeth was conveniently situated right across from the pier and Hobey Beach and right next to the Boardwalk casino. We also visited the aquarium while we were there.

After an exhausting 3 hour drive, we finally reached our final destination of East London for the Easter long weekend and stayed with the family. While we were there we had a lovely seafood dinner and potjie at Michele and Nigel. We also had a photo shoot done, a visit to the beach, a ride on the train, and Connor had some play time at the indoor play area before flying back on the Monday evening.
All in all, a great holiday and quality time spent as a family.
